Merseysiders want both a left back and a front man before the new campaign gets under way.

Check in to Transfer Window: Done Deal Alerts

Liverpool head coach Brendan Rodgers has revealed that the Reds are still in the market for two more players this summer, reports SkySports.com.

The Merseyside giants have already added a number of new faces to their first-team squad for next season, including goalkeeper Simon Mignolet, defender Kolo Toure and Spanish duo Luis Alberto and Iago Aspas.

However, with there being continued doubts over the future of wantaway front man Luis Suarez at Anfield, despite the Uruguay international finally joining up with the club on their pre-season tour of Australia last weekend, the Northern Irishman says that he hopes to be able to conclude deals for at least two new players before the summer transfer window closes again on Aug 31.

One of the positions being targeted by Rodgers is the left-back area, with the manager keen to provide both cover and competition for current first-choice Jose Enrique at Anfield next season.

Meanwhile the other area of concern for the coach is up front, whether that be finding a replacement for Suarez, who registered 30 goals and 11 assists in his 44 matches for the club last season, or simply a new attacker to play alongside the Uruguayan.

“There are obviously certain areas of the squad where we’re a bit thinner than others,” said Rodgers.

“We probably need a bit more support – that extra bit of quality – at the top end of the field and that’s something we’ll look out for.

“That’ll be mixed with needing cover in the left-back position – that’s something we’re looking at. It’s not really about numbers, it’s about quality.

“If we can do that over the next number of weeks we’ll be happy.”
