Manchester United are set to make one final attempt to sign Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas and will offer the Catalan club a club record £35 million for the Spaniard, Goal.com reports.

The Spanish Champions rejected United’s latest bid, believed to be around £30 million plus add ons and told the Red Devils that Fabregas is not for sale at any price.

However, United manager David Moyes is willing to make one final attempt to test Barcelona’s resolve as he looks for a quality central midfielder that will fill the gap left by Paul Scholes retirement.

United are willing to offer Fabregas wages of around £200,000 a week, doubling the wage he receives at Barcelona but the club aren’t convinced that their bid will succeed and have already started looking at alternatives.

Reports suggest that Barcelona are unlikely to accept United’s latest offer as they have already let several minor players go, including Thiago Alcantara, who moved to Bayern Munich.

If United do fail in their bid for Fabregas, Moyes will probably turn to one of Luka Modric, Yohan Cabaye or Marouane Fellaini, with all three set be cheaper than what United are willing to pay for Fabregas.
