Norwich City are said to still be hopeful of signing highly rated Glasgow Celtic front man Gary Hooper this summer, according to reports in the Daily Mirror.

The prolific English marksman had been expected to join Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers next season after the west London club and the Scottish Premier League (SPL) champions had agreed a fee of £5.5 million for the 25-year-old.

However, it now appears as though that move is in danger of falling through with the player still yet to agree personal terms with QPR, and that has reignited the Cannaries’ interest in the striker.

Norwich head coach Chris Hughton has been keeping close tabs on Hooper for some time now with a view to bringing the attacker to Carrow Road next season to form a partnership up front with new signing  Ricky van Wolfswinkel.

Hughton feels that the two forwards will dovetail perfectly together in attack, especially considering that Hooper has managed to find the back of the net on 82 occasions in just 137 appearances for the SPL giants since arriving in Glasgow from Scunthorpe United in July 2010 for a fee of just £2.4 million.
