West Brom are weighing up a bid for Stroke striker Kenwyne Jones according to The Metro. Baggies manager Steve Clarke has identified the need to bring in a new striker this summer and believes Jones to be the man who can fire the Baggies to glory.

West Brom are markedly short of attacking options after Romelu Lukaku returned to his parent club Chelsea at the end of last season.

The Belgian youngster finished the season as the club’s top scorer after a highly impressive season for the Black Country club.

Clarke was hoping to persuade Chelsea to allow Lukaku to join them again for one more year but new Blues boss Jose Mourinho has reportedly identified the powerful forward as a key member of his squad for the upcoming season.

West Brom are likely to find themselves further short of attacking options if, as expected, Peter Odemwingie leaves the club.

The Nigerian striker has been no stranger to controversy over the last six months after his aborted attempt to force through a move to QPR on the last day of the January transfer window, and looks certain to leave over the coming months.

Jones is currently behind the likes of Peter Crouch and Jon Walters and it is thought the player would welcome the prospect of first team football.
