Monaco striker Radamel Falcao has denied that he is lying about his age according to Sky Sports.

Reports from the player’s native Colombia had suggested that Falcao was in fact two years older than he claimed.

Falcao is understood to be 27 years old but there were suggestions that the player was in fact closer to 30.

If proven to be true, the news would have a significant impact on the value of his recent transfer from Atletico Madrid to Monaco.

The Ligue 2 champions, regardless of their wealth, are unlikely to be happy at splashing out over £50 million on a player who is soon to be the wrong side of 30.

But the player has moved to pour cold water on the speculation, insisting the rumours are bizarre and have no foundation.

Speaking through his social media channel, Falcao expressed his surprise upon reading the story and insisted he wished to deny to the issue once and for all.

Falcao was one of the most sought after players in Europe this summer with a host of top sides having been keen on his signature, including the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City.

The player eventually chose the move to France to join up with Monaco as they look to establish a team capable of challenging PSG on both domestic and European fronts.
