Chelsea are set to end speculation regarding Juan Mata’s future by offering the midfielder a lucrative new five year contract, Metro reports.

Mata has been linked with a move away from the club this summer, with reports suggesting that Blues boss Jose Mourinho was willing to cash in on the Spaniard to fund his own transfer business.

Barcelona were thought to be monitoring the situation involving Mata and were willing to pay £30 million for the midfielder while some reports claimed that Chelsea had offered Mata to Manchester United as part of a deal to bring Wayne Rooney to the club.

However, Chelsea will now rubbish those rumours and offer Mata a lucrative new contract to stay with the club for another five years.

His contract looks set to increase from his current £70,000 a week wage to a £100,000 a week wage, meaning the Spaniard will become one of the highest earners at Stamford Bridge.

The midfielder has become a favourite of the fans at Chelsea since he joined the club from Valencia two years ago and is regarded as one of the Premier League’s best midfielders following several excellent performances last season.
