Brazil attacker takes a cheeky swipe at ex-United legend.
FC Barcelona’s new signing Neymar has claimed that he is not as vain as David Beckham, with the Brazilian superstar even going so far as labelling the former England captain as a “metrosexual”, reports the Daily Mail.
The Brazil international finally completed his long-awaited move from Santos to the Camp Nou last month, with the five-year deal set to cost the Spanish champions a whopping £48.6m.
And now the 21-year-old is in line to take over from the one-time Manchester United, Real Madrid, AC Milan, LA Galaxy and Paris Saint-Germain midfield player as the most recognisable and marketable player on Planet Football.
However, Neymar says that when it comes to comparing himself with the 38-year-old Englishman in terms of style, he trails well behind in second place, although the Barca attacker did admit to shaving his legs.
“Yes, it is true that I like to go out and buy new clothes, nice perfumes and hair products. I also shave my legs for example,” Neymar said in an interview with Surface.
“I do not see myself as a metrosexual, though. That was more something for Beckham, who was more stylish. I might be a bit pretentious, but I don’t see that as a problem.”
On the field of play, however, Neymar is set to even eclipse what Beckham achieved during his own glittering 21-year career at the very highest level, which finally came to and end last May when he won the Ligue 1 title with PSG, when he begins life in Catalonia next month.
