Manchester United are ready to hand new manager David Moyes a transfer warchest in order to help ease the transition between him and previous boss Sir Alex Ferguson according to The Times.

United officials are keen for Moyes to feel he is able to put his own stamp on the team and are ready to provide him with over £100 million to go out and buy new players.

Top of his list will be Tottenham forward Gareth Bale, with Moyes ready to break the British transfer record in order to tempt the Welsh star away from White Hart Lane.

Tottenham though are desperate to hold onto Bale and have previously ruled out selling the PFA Player of the Year this summer.

Real Madrid were also keen to secure Bale’s signature but they were told in no uncertain terms that Bale was not available.

That could be a concern for United, who already lost out on Thiago Alcantara this summer and are struggling to force through negotiations for his former Barcelona team-mate Cesc Fabregas.

Should United manage to sign Bale, they will allow want-away striker Wayne Rooney to leave the club.

The England forward has made it clear that he is keen to join Jose Mourinho at Chelsea.
