Tottenham have warned Real Madrid to back off in their pursuit of Gareth Bale as the Spanish side continued their dirty tricks campaign in the hope of securing his services.

Reports over the weekend had suggested a deal to bring Bale to the Spanish capital had been revived and that negotiations were close to being concluded.

Those reports were rubbished by Tottenham, and the White Hart Lane club have warned Real they will not tolerate any more attempts to unsettle the player according to The Daily Star.

Such is the strength of Tottenham’s feeling on the matter, they have penned a written warning to Real insisting they have no interests in negotiating a deal.

Tottenham boss Andre Vilas-Boas is said to have been furious at the Spanish giants underhand tactics and grew visibly incensed when asked about the topic during an interview in Hong Kong.

Real are used to securing their man as Tottenham found out with regards to the Spanish club’s pursuit of Luka Modric.

While Spurs did manage to initially persuade Modric to stay for one more season, Real eventually secured the signing of the Croatian midfielder.

But it is understood that Tottenham are in no mood for a repeat, and with Bale unwilling to hand in a transfer request, Spurs are ready to pull out all the stops to keep him at White Hart Lane.
