Barcelona’s Cesc Fabregas has confided in friends that he is tempted by a move to Old Trafford according to The Daily Mail.

The Spanish midfielder has been in Manchester United’s sights for a number of weeks now with the two clubs yet to agree terms over a potential transfer fee.

Barcelona have publically insisted that Fabregas is not for sale but it is thought that privately, the club acknowledge he is unlikely to receive much play time following the arrival of Brazilian wonderkid Neymar.

Fabregas is weighing up his options and is thought to be keen on the prospect of first team football.

The former Arsenal captain has one eye on establishing himself in the Spain starting eleven for next summer’s World Cup finals tournament in Brazil.

United are desperate to sign a centre midfielder following the retirement of Paul Scholes, the ongoing injury problems of Darren Flethcer and the inconsistent form of Anderson.

It is thought that the club were close to signing Fabregas’ former Barcelona team-mate, Thiago Alcantara, only for Champions League winners Bayern Munich to swoop in at the last minute.

United could face competition from Arsenal for Fabregas signature, as the Gunners still have a first option clause as part of the deal that took Fabregas to the Nou Camp.
