Blues are confident that England star will be in the capital by the end of next month.

Check in to Transfer Window: Done Deal Alerts

Chelsea are said to be happy to wait until right until the very end of the summer transfer window before bringing unsettled Manchester United front man Wayne Rooney to Stamford Bridge, according to reports in the Daily Express.

The west London club have already had one offer of £20 million for the 27-year-old turned down by the Premier League champions and as yet, the Blues have not returned with a second, improved bid for the striker.

However, that is because it is thought that the Red Devils do not want their star man to play against them for Chelsea when the two arch rivals play each other in the top flight on Aug 26.

That does though give Chelsea head coach Jose Mourinho enough time to seal a deal for his number one transfer target of the summer, and the Portuguese is said to be extremely confident of still being able to land Rooney before all transfer activity ceases at the end of next month.

Either way, it still very much appears as though the man who has netted an impressive 197 goals for United in just 401 matches during his nine years in the north west will be wearing the blue of Chelsea next season and not the red of United.
