Norwich City have officially confirmed the signing of Celtic striker Gary Hooper making the forward the Canaries seventh signing of what has become a very busy summer for the Carrow Road side.

The 25 year old is believed to have cost £5m and has signed a three year contact having seemingly opted against joining QPR, who were also chasing the prolific forward.

Hooper has spoken of his excitement at signing for Norwich City, who had been linked with a move for the player in January;

“There’s been a lot of speculation going back to January and I’m pleased to have finally put pen to paper and joined Norwich,”

“I knew Chris Hughton and Colin Calderwood from my youth days at Spurs so it will be great to be back working with them.

“I have scored goals at every level I have played at and the challenge of playing in the Premier League is really exciting to me.”

Hooper has been a huge success since moving from Scunthorpe United to Celtic, scoring 82 goals in 138 appearances and Hughton will hope that he can form a strong partnership with fellow summer signing Ricky van Wolfswinkel.

As well as Hooper and van Wolfswinkel Hughton has also brought in Javier Garrido, Nathan Redmond, Martin Olsson, Carlo Nash and Dutch midfielder Leroy Fer.
