Valencia have told both Manchester City and Arsenal that  defender Adil Rami will cost at least £7.5 million to buy this summer, according to reports in Spanish sports daily Marca.

The experienced France international has only been at the Mestalla for the past two-and-a-half seasons now, having originally arrived in Southern Spain from Ligue 1 outfit Lille in January 2011 for a fee believed to be between 6 and 10m euros.

And in the intervening two-and-a-half-year period, the 27-year-old has gone on to establish himself as a regular at the heart of the Valencia back four, featuring in 74 matches overall in all competitions for the Spanish club, scoring five goals in the process, including two strikes in his 53 Liga contests for the club.

However, with reported interest in the central defender from Premier League duo Arsenal and City this summer, the debt-ridden Liga side are now said to be willing to allow the Frenchman to depart, but only if an interested party meets their own £7.5m valuation of their player that is.

As a result, both of the top-flight giants are understood to now be weighing up whether or not to meet Valencia’s asking price for a centre back who has been capped 25 times by les Bleus since making his international debut three years ago.
