Chelsea are today being strongly linked with a move to sign Real Madrid battler Sami Khedira with Spanish source Sport.es claiming that German international could leave the Bernabeu in a matter of days.

Carlo Ancelotti apparently doesn’t rate the 26 year old all that highly and having already seen the arrival of Asier Illarramendi call Khedira’s place in Real Madrid’s starting eleven into question the newly installed manager is now pursuing Sevilla midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia, a move that would almost certainly leave the former Stuttgart warming the bench.

Khedira is apparently closing in on a move to either Chelsea or AS Monaco with a fee of just €18m (£15m) being quoted for the talented defensive midfielder, a valuation that seems very low for a player of such quality, especially in today’s inflated transfer market.

Whilst a move to AS Monaco would perhaps work out a tad more financially lucrative than a move to Stamford Bridge the chance to reunite with Jose Mourinho, who signed Khedira whilst in charge of Real Madrid, could prove more tempting.

Mourinho may feel that Khedira is a better enforcer option than John Obi Mikel and the chance to bring in the Real Madrid man for the price quoted would surely be too hard to resist for the returning Blues boss.

Khedira has made 126 appearances for Real Madrid since moving to the Spanish side in the summer of 2010.
