Southampton manager Mauricio Pochettino has insisted that he won’t let Gaston Ramirez or Ricky Lambert leave the club this summer, Goal.com reports.

Lambert has been a key player for Southampton for many seasons, finishing as the clubs leading goal scorer last season with 15 goals.

The striker has been linked with a move away from St Mary’s, with West Ham and Reading thought to be considering a move for the 31 year old but Pochettino claims that Lambert is still important to the club and won’t be sold.

“We count on Rickie,” Pochettino told the Daily Echo after Saturday’s victory.

“We are happy with him. I didn’t know there was any interest in him. This is a surprise for me.”

Ramirez had a highly impressive season for the Saints last term and has been linked with a move back to Italy after only one season in the Premier League.

Inter Milan are thought to be considering a bid for the Uruguayan while the players agent has said that his client would consider a move to Inter if a concrete proposal came in.

However, Pochettino does not expect to lose the attacking midfielder this summer.

“I just listen to Gaston, not his agent,” the manager added. “Gaston is happy here and we expect him to stay and to put a lot into the team.”
