Singapore FA appoint former East German Coach 

In a move that will radically improve post match analysis and training techniques, Singapore FA have announced German Harald Irmscher as the man to assist countryman Bernd Strange in bringing the country’s footballing skills forward.

The 67-year-old, who worked as strange’s assistant at both East Germany (1983-88) and Belarus (2007-11, has signed a one year deal.

Part of his job will be working with coaches from across Singapore with the aim of implementing an official evaluation procedure, the German will also supervise the fitness of the players, as well as weight control and being responsible for player’s specific training plans.

Speaking to Goal.com  Irmscher said: ” It is great to be given the chance to work with coach Strange once more
“I am also looking forward to work with other coaches to further develop football in this country, where football is the number one sport and whose national team is now champions of the Southeast Asian region.

“I am confident and I believe my experience at the international level will be an asset to Singapore footbal.”

He will also take on scouting and selection duties, which he will share with Strange, as well as conducting monthly meetings aimed at improve the skill level of local coaches.
