The CaughtOffside 50: The Best Footballers In the World Today

26. Paulinho

It’s been quite the journey for Paulinho, having made his debut with Brazilian second division side Bragantino he is now a Copa Libertadores winner with Corinthians.

He could be classified as the definition of a late bloomer having spent time in both Lithuania and Poland, both of which were unsuccessful, but can now count a series of high profile title victories under his belt.

Usually situated at the summit of the midfield, his passing and running were vital in helping club and country to an impressive trophy haul and the player earned himself a move to Premier League side Tottenham Hotspur in the process.

He has chipped in with his fair share of goals too, frequently timing late runs into the box and displaying a knack for a tidy finish. He has become crucial for the Brazilian national side and will likely fit in well to Tottenham’s style of play too, hopefully enough to keep his place in the Selecao in time for next summer’s World Cup in his home land.
