However, his electric displays and output into helping Arsenal secure Champions League football next term cannot be overlooked. He was named as Man of the Match in his debut against Liverpool on the opening day of term and went from strength to strength in the Premier League, even if his teammates didn’t.
Despite Arsenal’s trophy cabinet going untouched for yet another season, he managed to pick up the club’s annual Player of the Season gong as well as continue to establish himself in the Spanish national side.
