15. Bastian Schweinsteiger
Like his teammate, Philip Lahm, Schweinsteiger has been another Bayern stalwart that seems to have been around forever.
Many critics had been quick to write the German international off at the start of the season, using labels like ‘has been’, or worse, ‘never will be’, but he fought back to prove them all wrong in the best way possible – by winning a treble.
Moved from out wide to the middle by Jupp Heynckes he went on to form a strong understanding with new signing Javi Martinez, for whom he was the perfect foil, building a solid base in which to keep the Bayern machine ticking over comfortably.
He had been branded, along with several of his club teammates, as someone who just didn’t have the stomach for the big games, he was able to once again silence the critics by collecting the treble that the club had made look easy.
He is certain to go straight into the German national side ahead of their World Cup campaign next summer.
