The CaughtOffside 50: The Best Footballers In the World Today

9. Luis Suarez

Once again he couldn’t go a season without causing some form of controversy after biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic toward the end of the campaign that saw him pick up a 10 game ban that will carry on into the new season.

But for all of the trouble he seemingly brings on himself, there is absolutely no doubt that he is a world class striker fully deserving of a place in the CaughtOffside 50.

The Uruguayan international is so key to the Liverpool side that had he been banned for longer, or earlier, the side would have struggled to escape from the lower half of the Premier League table as Brendan Rodgers’ men continue to pass through this transitional period.

He managed to snag 30 goals in all competitions for the Merseyside club, as well as notch up 13 assists to prove just how vital he is to the Liverpool cause, and his record at international level stands amongst the best this season too.

However, Liverpool may have to try and find a way of living without him next season as he looks set to move on with Real Madrid and Arsenal battling it out for his signature.
