The CaughtOffside 50: The Best Footballers In the World Today

Posted by

8. Radamel Falcao

There was no way that he was going to have a bad season given his first act was to smash a hattrick past Chelsea in the European Super Cup last August. And seeing as it ended with one of football’s most expensive transfers to Monaco, it’s fair to say that it’s been a good year for the Colombian international.

Scoring for fun, the 27-year-old is the third and final member of a Colombian attacking trio to score well in the CaughtOffside 50 with Jackson Martinez and James Rodriguez for company, and it’s not likely to be his last time either.

Another prolific season in front of goal for Atletico with 34 goals in 40 games for the Spanish capital side and was a central figure in their victory over cross city rivals Real in the Copa Del Rey final back in May.

His €60 million move from Atletico to Monaco drew some heavy criticism, but he has undoubtedly bought into the project that is unfolding at the principality club and though he won’t be playing any European football next season, there is no doubt that he will ensure that it will arrive the following year.
