Could an MLS return be in store for Tottenham’s USA international?
Twitter was set ablaze last night with speculation over the future of Clint Dempsey, with many claiming a return to the MLS was in order. And that was before this tweet showed up:
Damn, guess who’s on my flight to Seattle? So random. Blurry photo credit to his handler. #Dempsey #Golazo #USMNT pic.twitter.com/gd7G5uDkF8

And then this picture on Instagram:
At this stage, it should be noted that the fan who declared Dempsey was off on a flight to Seattle later retracted that statement when it became apparent he was headed to a different gate.
So if not Seattle, where could Dempsey be headed? It seems more than a little odd that the Tottenham forward should be in the USA by himself so close to match day. Spurs are set to play nouveau-riche AS Monaco at the Stade Louis II on Saturday, and for a big name like Dempsey to not be with the team two days beforehand is unusual.
Of course, there’s always the possibility that the Texas-native was flying out of the US after holidaying or spending time with friends, and was about to board a plane to France or England to join up with his current teammates.
Wherever Dempsey is headed, this is certainly an intriguing story well worth keeping an eye on.
