Sydney FC young midfielder is finds the reality of a pre-season tour in Europe hard to believe

The 21-year-old who just 12 months ago was working in a coffee shop and playing in the NSW Premier League will be flying to Venice with the rest of the squad to meet up with team mate Alessandro Del Piero.

The six game tour will be the first time an A-League side has come to Europe, as Peter Triantis, Speaking to the Herald Sun explains: “If you told me this was about to happen 12 months ago I would never have believed it.

“Going from playing on parks with no grass and training with no nets to where we are now is amazing. Everybody is just buzzing about the trip. I’ve got to pinch myself.”

The Sky Blues man also spoke about the benefits that playing with such a huge player, a World Cup winner, has on the squad.

He said: “He’ll go down as one of the greatest players of all time. He’s shown the boys the level of professionalism you need to succeed.

“He has the trophies and medals but he is still the most humble person you would ever meet, which is another good lesson.”

Triantis notched up 49 appearances for Sydney Olympic in the New South Wales Premier League before moving across the city in 2012, where he has 14 matches and 1 goal to his name.
