Terrence Boyd Continues Excellent Early-Season Form With Europa League Goal

The USA international earned Rapid Vienna a draw in their Europa League third round qualifier.

Terrence Boyd has continued his excellent goalscoring form at club level by netting a penalty for Rapid Vienna on Thursday night.

Playing in a Europa League third round qualifier against Asteris Tripolis of Greece, the Austrian side came back from a goal down to take a valuable away goal into their second leg tie.

Boyd converted his penalty with power, slamming it low and hard underneath outstretched ‘keeper Giorgios Bantis.

Boyd has also started the domestic season in fine form, scoring a brace in Rapid’s second match of the season – a 4-0 routing of Wiener Neustadt.

Despite maintaining a constant 2:1 ratio of games played vs goals scored throughout his career, Boyd has struggled for the national team. In his nine games for the USMNT he hasn’t scored a single goal.

Still only 22 years of age, US coaches and scouts will surely be keeping an eye on Boyd in what will be a massive season in the young striker’s career, as he vies for a place in a national team which is admittedly stacked at the centre-forward position.
