Anfield defender set for Serie A switch.

Check in to Liverpool vs Stoke City

Napoli have reportedly agreed a deal with Liverpool that will see no nonsense Slovakian international Martin Skrtel move to the Serie A side according to Forza Italia.

The uncompromising defender found himself frozen out of the Liverpool first team during much of the second half of last term and the arrival of Kolo Toure may well have paved the way for the 28 year old to reunite with former boss Rafa Benitez.

Pepe Reina has already moved to the San Paolo side on a loan deal and it is though that Skrtel will form part of a central defensive partnership alongside new summer signing Raul Albiol, who Benitez brought in from Real Madrid.

Skrtel has been a regular for much of his six seasons at the Merseyside club, making over 200 appearances in the process, but made just two Premier League starts since January and appears to be a player Rodgers may feel he can afford to offload.

Martin Skrtel will team up with compatriot and close friend Marek Hamsik at Napoli who have also brought in Gonzalo Higuain and Jose Callejon this summer.
