Chelsea have not given up hope of signing Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney and are preparing to make a third bid for the striker according to talkSport.

The Stamford Bridge saw a second bid rejected this week, with the Old Trafford side repeating their insistence that Rooney is not for sale.

It is being reported that Chelsea offered a deal worth £25 million up-front, with £5 million in add-ons.

Rooney is said to have been disappointed at United’s refusal to entertain the offer and is considering his options.

The England star has reportedly not ruled out making a formal transfer request as he is keen to complete a move to Stamford Bridge.

That has prompted United boss David Moyes to suggest that Rooney should be worrying about performing as best as he can for United in a World Cup year and not about how to engineer a move away from the club.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is a firm admirer of Rooney and has publically admitted that the striker is the club’s sole transfer target this summer.

The Portuguese boss believes Rooney’s relationship with United staff has broken down beyond repair and is confident of landing the England star.

Rooney is reportedly unhappy at Old Trafford as he feels undervalued, and overlooked in favour of Robin Van Persie.
