Liverpool striker Luis Suarez is ready to take the club through the courts in order to force through a move to Arsenal according to The Daily Mail.

The Uruguayan forward has made no secret of his desire to leave Anfield this summer. Suarez initially claimed he wanted to join Real Madrid in order to escape the attention of the English press.

But he has since claimed that his desire for a move was motivated by the need for Champions League football after the Spanish giants failed to make an offer for his services.

That has paved the way for Arsenal to make a bid for the striker, with the latest offer believed to have been £40 million plus £1.

Arsenal and Suarez believe that has activated a minimum fee release clause, requiring Liverpool to give Suarez permission to discuss terms with the Gunners.

But Liverpool are claiming that the clause merely requires them to consider the offer and does not oblige them to accept it.

Liverpool have also raised the question of how Arsenal were aware such a clause existed.

Suarez is thought to be furious at Liverpool’s attempts to prevent him from leaving and is ready to take them to court in order to force them into accepting the clause.

The move is likely to leave a sour taste in the mouth of Liverpool fans, who have stuck by the player throughout repeated periods of controversy.
