St Etienne defender Kurt Zouma has ruled out a summer move abroad by committing his immediate future to the club, saying that he wants one more year there before making any major decisions, Sky Sports reports.

The 18-year-old has seen himself become one of the most sought after defenders in the continent after breaking into the first team two years ago, and he further enhanced his credentials by helping the side to a French League Cup victory last season.

All summer long there has been a queue of clubs from all over Europe waiting to get a chance to talk to his representatives and spend big on securing his signature. The likes of Liverpool, Atletico Madrid, Anzhi Makhachkala and Wolfsburg have all expressed an interest, but Zouma seemingly has no problem in disappointing them by claiming his proclivity to stay with the Ligue 1 outfit.

Aware of the interest, the French under-20 international is in no rush to ply his trade away from home just yet and he will be staying at Stade Geoffrey-Guichard for another season at least.

Zouma told Le Progres: “There was a lot of noise this summer about a transfer for me.

“I can only say one thing – I will be at St Etienne this season, for sure.”
