Check in to Transfer Window: Done Deal Alerts

Arsenal head coach Arsene Wenger has given a two-day trial to Angers midfield player Alharbi El Jadeyaoui with a view to buying the Moroccan on a permanent deal this summer if he impresses, according to reports in the Daily Star.

The north London club have been desperately trying to bring new players to the Emirates during the close-season window, with the Frenchman reportedly being backed by a £70 million transfer war chest.

However as yet, despite the Gunners being heavily linked with making big-money moves for the likes of Real Madrid’s Gonzalo Higuain, Liverpool’s Luis Suarez and Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney so far this summer, the club have only added young French striker Yaya Sanogo on a free transer from Ligue 1 outfit Auxerre.

But that situation may soon be about to change after Wenger handed a two-day trial to 27-year-old attacking midfield player El Jadeyaoui, who was withdrawn by Angers manager Stephane Moulin from the Ligue 2 side’s 4-2 win over Istres last weekend amid reports of Arsenal’s interest in the player.

El Jadeyaoui, who has a contract with Angers that runs until June 30 2014, has managed to find the back of the net on four occasions in his 35 league outings for Angers since joining the club from Guingamp last year.
