Barcelona will make one final attempt at signing Chelsea defender David Luiz, with the Brazilian set to have talks with Jose Mourinho on Monday regarding his future, the Daily Mirror reports.

The La Liga Champions had their opening bid for Luiz turned down by Chelsea last week, with the club stating that the defender is not for sale.

Speculation has mounted all summer about Luiz’s future at Chelsea, with several reports suggesting that Mourinho would be happy to cash in on the player as he doesn’t fit into his style of play.

The Portuguese coach has been quick to play down those reports in recent times and is expected to tell Luiz that he is part of his plans for this season.

Barcelona have made Luiz their main target for the rest of the summer, believing that he is the answer to their recent defensive problems.

Reports have suggested that Luiz would be interested in a move to Barcelona, although he is not desperate to leave Chelsea and will not force his way out of the club.

Barcelona may have to pay around £45 million if they want to land Luiz, an amount they are unlikely to be able to afford after they spent £48 million on Neymar.
