Heskey has Confidence in Jets Youngsters

The former Liverpool man has endorsed the  next generation of  Socceroos.

Although the team results from both the U20 World Cup in Turkey and the EAFF Cup were disappointing, the Jets target man feel the individual performances of players such as Josh Brilliante and Adam Taggart warrant praise.

Speaking to Football Australia, Heskey backed the rising stars to have a top class season.

“We know we’ve got a young side and it has been great for them to get a full season under their belt and to play regularly during the season.

“They’ve had a good bedding in period last season, so hopefully we can expect good things from them this season.”

Heskey who was already scored the same number of goals in his 23 appearances for the Jets as he did in over 90 games for Aston Villa, believed at times the young Socceroos were down on their luck.

“I’ve obviously been following it back in England. I watched some of the games and they were a little unlucky, possession-wise, they passed people off the park.

“It’s nice to have so many young players playing for not only their under 20 national team, but a few that went away with the senior squad as well, which shows the Club is going in the right direction.”

Jets, who finished third from bottom in last year’s campaign, will be hoping the international experience translates into success on the field.
