Former Arsenal legend Ray Parlour has urged boss Arsene Wenger to start making new additions to the squad before the season kicks off this weekend, talkSPORT reports.

Wenger has been linked with a number of players this summer, but the saga over Liverpool’s Luis Suarez has taken precedent recently and so far the manager’s only signing so far has been that of young striker Yaya Sanogo.

And Parlour has admitted that he fears for the side as the Gunners prepare for the visit of Aston Villa this weekend for their first game of the season and has warned that they may face another frustrating campaign if they don’t start spending soon.

“They definitely need a couple of players,” the former Arsenal ace said. Everybody is waiting for a signing, a real big key player. Suarez would be a massive player for Arsenal if they signed him.

“Arsene Wenger will still be looking at buying players and I’m hoping he can bring in two of three before the season starts. It would give Arsenal every chance.

“He has got lots of players in the squad and he needs players now who are really going to strengthen the team. He needs a couple of key signings.”
