Liverpool could still face a stumbling block in their attempts to sign Granada left-back Guilherme Siqueira, according to the Daily Mail.

The 27-year-old has caught the attention of a number of clubs this summer, and it is thought that Real Madrid will move for him if they sell Everton target Fabio Coentrao.

Everton are preparing for the possible departure of star left-back and Manchester United target Leighton Baines, and they too could try to sign Siqueira.

As the Brazilian would likely only be a backup to Marcelo at the Bernebau, he may favour a move to the Premier League over the Spanish giants, but with Everton finishing above Liverpool for two seasons in a row, they may prove the more attractive option at this moment in time.

This will come as a blow to Brendan Rodgers, who is still keen to strengthen his defence this summer following the retirement of Jamie Carragher, and the possible departure of Daniel Agger to Barcelona.

Ajax’s versatile defender Toby Alderweireld is also a target for the Anfield club, though they were believed to be confident of wrapping up the signing of Siqueira before the start of the season.
