Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is drawing up a list of alternatives to Luis Suarez as his move for the striker looks to be doomed, the Daily Mirror reports.

While Suarez is still the Gunners main target, many at the Emirates are becoming pessimistic about signing the Uruguayan as Liverpool refuse to entertain the idea of the striker moving to one of their main Premier League rivals.

With Arsenal’s hopes of signing Suarez fading, Wenger has had to look at other options.

The club were interested in signing Wayne Rooney but it appears that the only Premier League team that have a chance of signing the England international is Chelsea.

With the likes of Stevan Jovetic and Gonzalo Higuain having moved to other clubs, Wenger has now moved his attentions on to two Premier League strikers, Michu of Swansea City and Manchester City’s Edin Dzeko.

Wenger has been a fan of Dzeko for along time and could persuade the striker to move to the Emirates if he doesn’t get a lot of first team football during the first weeks of the season at the Etihad, while Michu could be relatively cheap buy and was one of the surprise packages during last season.
