Fulham are hoping to beat QPR to the signing of Tottenham midfielder Scott Parker, despite the fact that the Hoops have nearly completed a deal for the 32 year old, the Daily Mirror reports.

QPR boss Harry Redknapp is desperate to sign Parker and feels that the midfielder is the ideal man to lead the Hoops back into the Premier League.

However, Fulham believe that they can persuade Parker to move to Craven Cottage with the promise of first team football at the heart of the Cottagers midfield.

Fulham are also in the Premier League and it is thought that Parker would rather stay in the top flight rather than move down one division.

Parker still hopes to be a part of England’s squad for next summers World Cup and playing at a side in the Premier League will certainly help his chances of being on the plane to Brazil next summer.

However, Parker still enjoys an excellent relationship with Redknapp and could like the idea of leading the Hoops back into the Premier League at the first time of asking.
