Arsenal are preparing a third and final club-record bid of £49 million for unsettled Liverpool front man Luis Suarez this summer, according to reports in the Daily Telegraph.

The north London club have been closely monitoring the Uruguay international throughout the close-season transfer market, with a view to signing the 26-year-old before the window shuts for business on Sept 2.

However, so far Gunners head coach Arsene Wenger has seen two bids valued at £35m and £40m plus £1 for the coveted striker rejected by their counterparts from Anfield.

And following Suarez’s reported comments about his future with the Merseyside giants while away on international duty with Uruguay on Wednesday, in which the player appeared to suggest that he would now be staying with the Reds next season after all, it seemed as though Wenger and Co would have to start looking elsewhere for alternative striking options at the Emirates.

But those comments have subsequently be denied by Suarez, who still reportedly wants to leave Liverpool this summer to join a club competing in next season’s Uefa Champions League.

And that has therefore opened the door once again for one final bid by Arsenal for a forward who has registered an impressive 51 goals and 24 assists in just 96 matches at Liverpool since January 2011.
