Stamford Bridge side keen on German international.
Chelsea have reportedly joined a lengthy queue of club’s keen on Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan according to Sports Direct News.
Jose Mourinho is said to be considering a bid for the 22 year old who has already attracted the interest of both Arsenal and Man United.
This source claims that the £20m rated German international may struggle to retain his spot in Jurgen Klopp’s midfield with the likes of Nuri Sahin, Sven Bender, Sebastian Kehl and new signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan all vying for spots in the Westfalenstadion side.
Mourinho may well feel the need to bring in more steel to offer balance and protection to the more creative members of his squad. John Obi Mikel is currently the Blues first choice defensive midfielder, with Ramires able to offer a strong presence whilst also being adept at pushing the play forward. Oriol Romeu has been loaned out to Valencia and Michael Essien is perhaps feeling his way back into life back at Stamford Bridge.
Gundogan has been a tremendously consistent performer at Borussia Dortmund over the past couple of seasons and doesn’t seem like a player Klopp would be keen to lose this summer.
