Arsenal look set to fail in their pursuit of another striker after Manchester City told them that Edin Dzeko isn’t for sale, the Daily Mail reports.

The Gunners had turned their attentions to Dzeko after coming to terms with the fact that they won’t be able to sign Luis Suarez, with Liverpool refusing to let their star player leave for another Premier League rival.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is known to be an admirer of Dzeko and hoped to be able to persuade City to part with the Bosnian striker, who found himself on the bench many times during Roberto Mancini’s reign at the Etihad.

However, the Frenchman is set to be disappointed, with new City boss Manuel Pellegrini wanting to keep Dzeko at the club, having been impressed by the striker during pre-season.

Pellegrini has so much faith in Dzeko that he passed up on the opportunity of making a concerted bid for Edinson Cavani, who was at Napoli at the time.

It means that Wenger will once again have to look at other alternatives, with reports suggesting that he could now turn his attentions to Swansea striker Michu.
