Crystal Palace manager Ian Holloway is preparing an ambitious move to bring former Chelsea defensive pairing William Gallas and Khalid Boulahrouz to Selhurst Park according to The Daily Mail.

Palace are thought to be in the market for new defenders as they prepare for life in the Premier League.

The club will be hoping to assemble a squad strong enough to avoid instant relegation to the Championship, despite losing Wilfried Zaha to Manchester United, who was instrumental in their success last season.

Holloway is hoping to bring in some experienced heads and has identified Gallas and Boulahrouz to shore up the backline.

31-year old Boulahrouz has been told he can leave Sporting Lisbon as the Portuguese club continue to suffer from financial difficulty.

Sporting have had to sell a number of their star players this summer, including Dutch striker Ricky Van Wolfswinkel who has joined Norwich City, and it appears his Dutch compatriot Boulahrouz could be allowed to follow him to the Premier League on a bargain deal.

Gallas continues to look for new employers having been released from his contract at Spurs last season.

It is thought the former French international would be interested in remaining in London whilst continuing to play Premier League football.
