Old Trafford side enquire over availability of Bernabeu duo.
Manchester United’s search for a new midfielder has taken them to Real Madrid, as they look to sign one of either Luka Modric or Mesut Ozil, according to ESPN.
New United boss David Moyes has been linked with several big-name signings all summer as he’s looked to bring in a long-term replacement for the retiring Paul Scholes, but has so far found no success in the transfer market.
The likes of Thiago Alcantara and Kevin Strootman appeared to be close to moving to Old Trafford, but ended up moving elsewhere, while other targets such as Marouane Fellaini and Cesc Fabregas are not for sale, according to their clubs Everton and Barcelona.
Modric, who only joined Real Madrid last summer after moving from United’s Premier League rivals Tottenham, has had a difficult time since his move to Spain, and could find his place further under threat this season with the arrival of highly-rated attacking midfielder Isco from Malaga.
Ozil is reportedly uncertain over his future as well following some new arrivals, and United fancy their chances of luring at least one of these two talented midfield playmakers to Old Trafford.
Moyes hinted earlier today that United are currently negotiating several deals, and is confident of bringing two or three players in before the end of the summer transfer window.
