Highly-rated Fiorentina attacking midfielder Adem Ljajic could be set for a move to Spain, with AS reporting that the Serbian is in talks over a move to Atletico Madrid.

The 21-year-old had an excellent season for La Viola last term, scoring 11 goals and providing 8 assists in Serie A and earning a reputation as one of the best young players in Italy.

His fine form saw him linked with the likes of Tottenham and Chelsea earlier this summer, and he was once a target for Manchester United during his days as a youngster at former club Partizan Belgrade.

However, Spanish outfit Atletico are keen to push through a deal, as they look to reinvest the money brought in from the lucrative £50million sale of Radamel Falcao to Monaco earlier this summer.

Diego Simeone’s side have already brought in striker David Villa from Barcelona as a direct replacement upfront, and are still looking for more attacking players to make up for the loss of the Colombian goal machine.

Fiorentina have also had star striker Stevan Jovetic poached from them this summer, with the Montenegro forward joining Manchester City for £22million, though they have managed to sign Bayern Munich and Germany striker Mario Gomez as a replacement.
