Everton are considering a move to bring in Man City midfielder Gareth Barry on a season long loan deal according to the Daily Express.

The 32 year old England man is set to be a bit part player under new boss Manuel Pellegrini and with just a year to run on his current contract it appears likely that the Etihad Stadium side will be open to offers for the former Aston Villa man.

Pellegrini can call upon Yaya Toure and new signing Fernandinho as the first-choice central midfielders, and has Jack Rodwell and Javi Garcia as back-up, therefore leaving Barry out in the cold.

However Everton’s interest may be stifled by the player’s reported £90k a week wage packet which the Toffees will not want to foot the bill for.

Barry moved to Man City in a £12m deal back in the summer of 2009 and has been a regular since day one, racking up 175 appearances in his four seaons at the club.

The battling midfielder will not want to be stuck warming the bench at this stage of his career, especially as he may still harbour hopes of a spot in Roy Hodgson’s World Cup squad.
