Chelsea have been strongly linked with a move to bring in AS Monaco forward Radamel Falcao, just months after the Colombian completed a move to the Ligue 1 big spenders, according to the Metro.

As well as speculation being rife over Falcao’s possible departure from the principality side based on issues related to tax issues that could result in a massive fine from the French Football Federation, reports have now emerged claiming that the former FC Porto and Atletico Madrid striker is not happy with the calibre of signings brought in by Claudio Ranieri.

Such a claim is hard to swallow given the sums spent to bring in the likes of Eric Abidal, Joao Moutinho, James Rodriguez and Ricardo Carvalho but this has in turn led this source to claim that Chelsea are the favourites to snap up Falcao should he indeed make a swift AS Monaco exit.

Falcao scored on his Ligue 1 debut last week and is clearly a player who would be on many club’s wish-lists though a second move this summer would be a huge surprise.

Jose Mourinho could well see Falcao as the ideal man to spearhead his Chelsea attack and is apparently looking at a move for the AS Monaco marksman as a potential alternative should his advances for Man United striker Wayne Rooney fail to succeed.
