Liverpool will face competition from Tottenham in the race to sign Brazilian winger Willian, the Daily Mirror reports.

Spurs hope to beat the Reds to Willian by offering his club, Anzhi Makhachkala more than the £26 million that Liverpool have offered the Russian side.

Liverpool are hopeful of completing a deal for the 25 year old and have already agreed personal terms with the player.

However, Anzhi Makhachkala haven’t a agreed a fee with the Reds yet, with the Russian club still holding out for around £30 million.

Spurs have told Anzhi that they are prepared to pay more than Liverpool for Willian and could entice the Brazilian to White Hart Lane with the prospect of European football if they win their Europa League play-off against Dinamo Tbilsi.

The battle for Willian could continue right up until the transfer window closes on September 2nd.

Manchester United are also thought to be interested in Willian and could rival Liverpool and Tottenham for the Brazilian if they fail to make any headway in their bid to bring Cesc Fabregas to the club.

Willian has made it clear that he wants to move to the Premier League, feeling that playing in England will give him the best opportunity to break into Brazil’s squad for next summers World Cup.
