Emirates Stadium side plot bid for Belgian international.
Arsenal are reportedly readying a move for Ajax defender Toby Alderweireld with a bid for the Belgian international apparently expected to leave the Amsterdam side if an offer of around £6m is made for the 24 year old according to Sports Direct News.
There is a raft of interest in the adaptable Ajax man with Everton, Newcastle United, Tottenham and Spartak Moscow all being linked with interest in acquiring his services.
Alderweireld is said to be keen on a move to the Premier League and with just a year to run on his current contract it does seem an exit is on the cards. £6m is certainly within Arsenal’s budget and the fact that the player can play at both right-back and in the centre of the defence is clearly going to interest Arsene Wenger.
Arsenal are experiencing something of an injury crisis that has left the North London club short of quality options at the back, this has been compounded by the release of Sebastien Squillaci and the loaning out of Swiss international Johan Djourou.
Alderweireld would be a timely, and cost effective, option for Arsene Wenger to consider.
