French international makes Anfield move.
Liverpool have officially completed a deal to sign Valencia wide-man Aly Cissokho on a season long loan deal.
The French international becomes the fifth Anfield signing of the summer with the 25 year old joining Iago Aspas, Simon Mignolet, Luis Alberto and Kolo Toure as new additions for the Merseyside club.
Rodgers has brought in the left-back to challenge Jose Enrique for the first team spot and it’s a move that Cissokho is pleased to have completed.
“I’m very happy to be here. I think we have a great team and great fans and together we can achieve big things.
“It’s going to be a great experience to be able to rub shoulders with the club’s top-quality players. I have experience in the game, but coming here there will still be lots of things to learn and discover as I work with everyone every day.
“I can learn from my new manager, get to know the new style of play here, familiarise myself with different opposition teams and learn the language. It’s going to be a great experience for me, and of course playing for the club for the first time is something I’m excited about.”
Cissokho has one international cap to his name and has competed at Champions League level for Porto, Lyon and Valencia and Rodgers will hope that the attacking full-back can help his side to secure a coveted top four spot this term.
Brendan Rodgers may well be looking to make further additions this summer as the cost of those he has signed has been more than covered by the sales of Jonjo Shelvey, Stewart Downing and Andy Carroll.
