Check in to Transfer Window: Done Deal Alerts

Liverpool are said to be weighing up making a move for exciting FC Groningen front man Richairo Zivkovic, aka ‘the new Arjen Robben’, this summer, according to reports in the Daily Mail.

The Merseyside giants are understood to have been keeping close tabs on the Serbia Under-19 international recently, as they look to continue their close-season recruitment drive before the transfer window slams shut for business for the year on Sept 2.

And according to the Eredivisie club’s executive director Hans Nijland, the Reds have been sending scouts out to Holland on a regular basis to watch the highly rated 16-year-old in action of late.

“All the top clubs in Holland want him, but Liverpool are here every week too. They are watching him closely and very keen,” claimed Nijland.

Zivkovic, who has a contract with Groningen that runs until June 30 2016, has been making a lot of headlines in the Netherlands due to his similarity to Bayern Munich wide man Arjen Robben, who also started out his career at the club.

In fact the Serbian, who only made his first-team debut back in December aged just 16 in a league contest with Heracles Almelo, has already gone on to break Robben’s record for being the youngest-ever goalscorer for the club on his way to netting two goals in his six Eredivisie outings last season.
