La Liga giants Barcelona have signed Manchester City youth product Denis Suarez for a fee of £1 million, the Daily Mail reports.

The 19-year-old attacking midfielder will now join up with Barca’s B team in the Segunda division where he will be allowed to develop his skills.

Having first began his career with Celta Vigo’s youth sides, he was quickly snapped up by the Etihad outfit back in 2011 for a reported fee of around £850,000, which could have risen to £2.75 million depending on appearances and performances.

Barcelona had been in for him then, along with rivals Manchester United and Chelsea.

However, he was never able to get anywhere near the City first team despite playing an active role in the club’s pre season campaign of 2011/12. He made the substitutes bench a number of times, and made his competitive debut in the side’s Capital One Cup encounter with Wolverhampton Wanderers, coming on as a 67th minute substitute for Samir Nasri.

In 2012 he was voted as the club’s Young Player of the Year as voted for by the fans, even though many had not seen him play before and he has represented his country at several youth levels.
