There will be pressure on the Gunners to get something out of this one. After slumping to an opening day defeat to Aston Villa the last thing they can afford to do is drop out of the Champions League at this early stage.
However, their daunting trip to the Bosphorus has been made all the more difficult thanks to a number of injuries to key men.
Thomas Vermaelen (back), Mikel Arteta (hamstring), Nacho Monreal (back) and long-term absentee Abou Diaby (knee) all missed the fixture against Villa, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (knee), Bacary Sagna (neck) and Kieran Gibbs (head) picked up their injuries during the match.
The Turkish side endured a difficult opening day of their own too, letting a two goal lead slip against Konyaspor to lose 3-2.
But unlike Arsenal, Fenerbahce have been rather active in the transfer market, brining in the likes of Emmanuel Emenike, Michal Kadlec and Bruno Alves during the close-season period to ensure they remain competitive with Galatasaray.
The Super Lig side go into this encounter not knowing whether they will be able to compete in the first round should they get past Arsenal as they await a ruling from the Court of Arbitration for Sport regarding accusations from Uefa of match-fixing.
