Mourinho not considering Falcao move as he prepares third Rooney approach.
Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is not pursuing a move for Monaco striker Radamel Falcao, as Sports Direct News claims that he is confident of succeeding in a third bid for Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney.
Speculation had surfaced that with Falcao’s Monaco future in doubt, Chelsea could try again for the striker they tried to sign from Atletico Madrid earlier in the summer, but Mourinho seemingly is not contemplating failure to land his prime target Rooney.
Manchester United have remained firm that the 27-year-old would not be sold for any price this summer, despite manager David Moyes admitting that his striker is unsettled and looking for a move.
The England international has also expressed a specific preference for moving to Stamford Bridge, as he is not content with his current role in the United squad, where he has ended up playing a supporting role to main striker Robin van Persie.
With Fernando Torres and Demba Ba off form for the Blues, Rooney would presumably be deployed as the club’s main striker by Mourinho, who is determined to land an early blow to his side’s title rivals.
Chelsea will submit a £28million bid for the former Everton star, and may be willing to go as high as £40million.
